IMF / World Bank Annual Meetings

The Annual Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank bring together around 10,000 people - the most senior leaders of the world's governments, along with the private sector, academics and civil society - to follow the work of these two mammoth finance and development bodies. The Meetings themselves are accompanied by a multi-day Civil Society Policy Forum that allows civil society groups to openly share their views and perspectives.
As with last year, two high priorities for the Meetings will include discussion around the Sustainable Development Goals, and improving international financial stability. These will be accompanied by sessions and discussion around a wide variety of relevant topics; last year's session included seminars addressing , the future of work, climate change, immigration, inclusive growth, education, inequality, trade, globalisation, fighting corruption, and women's economic empowerment.
Of course, it's only appropriate that our delegates should explore Bali - so as well as the Annual Meetings, they'll visit cultural sights, meet with dignitaries, NGOs, and thinktank experts, and have some free time to explore this beautiful island.

BERYL MATETE
Beryl is currently a budget lead at the Ministry of Justice, responsible for providing policy and budgetary advice to the Government on issues relating to victims of crime. She has experience across the public, NGO, and private sectors, and was on international postings at the UN Joint Inspection Unit in Geneva and the UNDP. She is also the owner of 'Cake Society', a boutique chain of cafes in Wellington.

JORDAN ZHENG
Jordan is a recent graduate from the University of Melbourne, where he obtained a Bachelor of Commerce in the fields of Accounting and Finance. He is an intrepid explorer, using travel to learn about the diverse cultures of the world. Jordan is passionate about helping communities achieve development through sustainable means. His desire to attend the World Bank/IMF Annual Meeting comes from a deep interest in understanding how private, public and non-governmental organisations can work together to create impactful policy that empowers all individuals in society.
CONNOR MACLEOD
Connor is in his fifth year of studying a Commerce and Arts conjoint degree at Victoria University of Wellington. He is majoring in Sociology, Art History, Accounting and Information Systems and is also the Clubs and Activities officer for the Victoria University of Wellington Students’ Association. Connor is looking forward to attending the IMF and World Bank Annual Meetings because he has a passion for building better communities and would love to see how decisions are made on the global scale.
NICOLASA FULLER
Nicolasa is from a large multicultural family and a keen traveller and explorer. She stayed at uni for as long as possible - plugging her time at Victoria University of Wellington with volunteer work, odd jobs and the occasional trip abroad. This full curriculum has fostered a keen interest in international relations, social and environmental justice. Working for an electorate MP has taught her the impact of good governance and the value of building personal relationships. Nicolasa hopes to learn as much as she can on this delegation.
SUMMER COOPER
Summer graduated from Otago University in 2018 with degrees in Law and Political Science. She is currently working in Wellington for the Ministry of Education as Adviser for the Change and Implementation team. Summer’s focus and passion while studying was around the issues and repercussions for children growing up while living in poverty in New Zealand. This is an area of continued focus and interest for Summer post-studies.
